While these have been separated into four distinct categories, they all required a combination of strategic, financial, marketing and selling, and behavioral expertise to achieve.   

On a personal note, John Emery taught the strategy class taken by MBA students in the Anderson Schools of Business, University of New Mexico because of his ability to merge cross-functional disciplines of business. This was the last class students took before graduating. The purpose was to provide students an opportunity to understand that to be successful in business, they had to move fluidly between "separate" subjects and integrate them into an implementable strategic plan.

A successful Private Investment Banker is a successful strategist.
